A word from Arthus and Jean
This unique wine comes from a tiny parcel (70 ares) of old Grenache Noirs planted on sandy soils. Thanks to long maceration, the wine displays magnificent aromatic complexity, with notes of spice, candied fruit and a hint of chocolate. On the palate, it's an explosion of flavors, powerful but always with elegance and finesse. The length is remarkable, a great wine.
Service
We recommend decanting this wine 2 hours before serving. It can be enjoyed now to enjoy all its power, but will benefit from cellar aging for a few more years. Estimated cellaring time: 2030-2035.
The property
Domaine Mouriesse Vinum
The Domaine Mouriesse Vinum, is above all the adventure of a passionate couple: Serge and Brigitte. Since 2008, they have been building up this small estate with the purchase of a few parcels and the desire to produce small volumes. They seek terroir complexity and finesse, rather than power. The vines are grown without synthetic chemicals.
The appellation
AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Châteauneuf-du-Pape is undoubtedly the most famous appellation in the southern Rhône Valley. Here, the terroir is very special, with its famous “galets roulés” (rounded pebbles), which allow the stored heat to be returned to the vine bunches. The appellation covers more than 3,000 ha, and produces an overwhelming majority of reds (97%), and an almost confidential proportion of white wines.
