A word from Arthus & Jean
Our real favorite in Bordeaux. An unclassified château with all the makings of a great one. Wines we love to drink vintage after vintage. 2019 is another great success for the Duboscq family. With tannins already well blended, this wine is silky and fresh. Already good to drink, but also ready for a long journey in the cellar!
Service
A great wine for laying down, best kept for a few more years. Decant 2 to 3 hours before serving. Ideal tasting range: 2030-2040.
The property
Château Haut Marbuzet
Haut-Marbuzet is above all a family story. Although the estate is very old, it didn't achieve fame until Hervé Dusbosq acquired it in 1952. Thanks to an exceptional terroir and the bold choices made by his son Henri, the wine reached the level of the greatest Bordeaux châteaux, and left tasters the world over unmoved. Robert Parker called it “the most seductive wine of the Médoc”.
The appellation
AOC Saint-Estèphe
Located in the northern Médoc, on Bordeaux's left bank, Saint-Estèphe is one of the region's most prestigious appellations. The vines, mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, are planted on a gravelly hilltop with a clay-limestone subsoil. Their immediate proximity to the Gironde estuary provides an ideal microclimate for ripening and grape quality.
